MAJOR QUAKE & BOLD MOVE!

Good morning, blog readers, from rainy and warm (76 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk, I saw: 52 robins, 5 red-winged blackbirds, 4 bunnies, 3 deer, 3 doves, a cardinal, a crow and a dog! Thank You, Jesus!

This morning, there was a “major” (7.2) earthquake, 123 miles from Chala, Peru. So far, there have been no reports of deaths or injuries.

Then, there was this bold headline from the AP: “Oklahoma state superintendent orders schools to teach the Bible in grades 5-12!” In the article, Sean Murphy reported: “Oklahoma’s top education official ordered public schools Thursday to incorporate the Bible into lessons for grades 5 through 12, the latest effort by conservatives to incorporate religion into classrooms.

The directive drew immediate criticism from civil rights groups and supporters of the separation of church and state, with some calling it an abuse of power and a violation of the U.S. Constitution. The order sent to districts across the state by Republican State Superintendent Ryan Walters says “adherence to the mandate is compulsory and immediate and strict compliance is expected.” Walters went on to say: “The Bible is an indispensable historical and cultural touchstone. Without basic knowledge of it, Oklahoma students are unable to properly contextualize the foundation of our nation which is why Oklahoma educational standards provide for its instruction. Oklahoma law already explicitly allows Bibles in the classroom and lets teachers use them in instruction,” said Phil Bacharach, a spokesman for state Attorney General Gentner Drummound.” Doug: “Praise God!”

Doug: “It’s so refreshing to hear of the believers in Jesus who are willing to put their jobs, careers and lives on the line for Jesus.” Read Hebrews 11 and, if you dare, Foxe’s “Book of Martyrs,” and you will hear the testimonies of those who were willing to die for their faith in God and Jesus. May the Lord give us courage to do the same for Him if it should ever come to that to His glory!

And, if you are not a believer in Jesus, why not become one today, even now, by simply agreeing with God you are a sinner who needs a Savior Who is Jesus (Romans :23, 24) and believe He died on a cross for your sins, was buried and raised from the dead (I Corinthians 15:1-4) to forgive all your sins and give you eternal life (John 3:16). Then, watch, wait, work, witness for, walk with and worship Jesus until He comes. Blessings with love and prayers, Doug (6/28/24).
