These headlines got my attention this morning:

#3. North Korea’s Latest Hwasong-18 Intercontinental Ballistic Missile -Its First ICBM to Use Solid Rocket Fuel – Has Ignited a Debate Over a Possible Russian Role in the Nuclear-Armed State’s Dramatic Missile Development (Reuters)

4. And, over the last 24 hours, there have been 2 “strong” (6.3 and 6.0) earthquakes in Columbia and the MAR (Mid-Atlantic Ridge) Region and 5 “moderate” quakes (5.7 , 5.7, 5.4, 5.2 and 5.0) in Columbia (2), the MAR, Peru and Tonga (USGS)

And Jesus said, “You will be hearing of wars and rumors of war

Good morning, blog readers, from cloudy and cool (63 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk after a severe thunderstorm, I saw: 5 dogs, 4 ducks, 3 deer, 2 cranes, a bunny, a cardinal, a dove and a finch. Thank You, Jesus!

This headline, from today’s “Christian Post,” got my attention: “Jesus’ return is imminent. Are you ready?”

In the article, Wallace B. Henley wrote: “Don’t worry, don’t be afraid, don’t panic because everything is probably happening right on time. Jesus said we would not know the day and hour of His coming again (Mark 13:32), but, in Matthew 24 and other passages (Luke 21), He did suggest we could know the ‘season’ or ‘age’ of His return.

In our present moment, it feels as though the ‘pregnancy of history’ has swollen to a crucial point. For the first time in history, there are events Jesus prophesied in the Olivet discourse that were not possible in earlier times but are now not only possible but happening. Here’s a sampling:

Global evangelization is possible and occurring because of rapid travel and communications (Matthew 24:14).

The Jewish state of Israel exists, and other nations are aligned in opposition to it, some vowing its elimination (Psalm 83).

Global lawlessness is a reality because of the impact of worldwide mass media and instantly transmitted social forces (II Thessalonians 2:1-12). It is possible for revolution to leap from nation to nation because of the ability to broadcast revolutionary events instantly.

Apostasy has intensified, spreading from nation to nation, denomination to denomination, and individual churches once faithful to the Gospel message (II Thessalonians 2:1-4).”

Note: I (Doug) would simply add what Dr. Luke wrote in Luke 21:28, “But when these things (that is, the “signs” Jesus gave His disciples leading up to His return in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21) begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

Based on what we see around us, especially in the AI-chatbot Jesus, many might conclude that it may be the “season” or “age” in finite time that will ultimately lead to His return. If we are trusting Christ, it is a good season not to worry, be afraid or panic, because everything is happening right on time. However, it is very much time to be ready and important to do what Jesus told His followers 2,000 years ago to do: “Be ready, be alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming (Matthew 24:42-44).”

So, as I have said numerous times before to my brothers and sisters in Christ: “Keep watching, waiting, working, witnessing for, walking with and worshiping Jesus until He comes.” And, if you are not a believer in Jesus, why not become one today by agreeing with God you are a sinner who needs a Savior Who is Jesus (Romans 3:23, 24) and believe He died on a cross for your sins, was buried and raised from the dead (I Corinthians 15:1-4) to forgive all your sins and give you eternal life (John 3:16).” And, if you do, I’ll see you in heaven! This headline, from Prophecy News Watch, really got my attention this morning: “Disney Crosses Dark Line – Show to Feature Girl Who Gets Pregnant from Satan!”

In the article, Jonathon van Maren reported: “It has become somewhat passe’ to complain about the Walt Disney Company. Once a titan of American storytelling, Disney has gone from producing culture to pushing the cultural revolution. Disney has pushed for abortion across the U.S. and offers employees full coverage for expenses if they wish to travel to procure an abortion and has championed the LGBT agenda, as well.”

And yet, this is not anything new. In fact, I can remember, as I was growing up, watching Disney and seeing good and evil wizards, witches, magic and other forms of the occult and not thinking anything of it. As Solomon once said in Ecclesiastes 1:9, “there is nothing new under the sun.”

So, what are we, as Christians to do about Disney and our leaders who champion their evil causes? First of all, we are to take God at His Word, as in I Timothy 2:1-6, where the apostle Paul wrote: “First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men (and women), for kings (presidents) and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, Who desires all men (and women) to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men (women), the man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony borne at the proper time.”

I must confess, as I watched the news this morning, I did not pray for our President, as I was commanded by God to do (I Timothy 2:1-4), but judged him instead. Father, forgive me for not only praying for his salvation, but also for him to lead our country in a godly way. Remember, as followers of Christ, we are to be like Him, as Paul reminded us, in Philippians 2:3-8,

“Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interest of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, Who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

Lord Jesus, please forgive me of my self-righteousness and pride and make me more like You today to be a blessing to others and glorify You. In Your precious and holy Name I pray and give You thanks for hearing me. Amen!

Good morning, blog readers, from sunny, windy and cool (60 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk, I saw: 3 deer, 2 bunnies and 2 robins! Thank You, Jesus!

As many of you know, I like to study and record earthquakes from around the world. Over the last 24 hours, there was a “light” (4.4) earthquake near Haida Gwai (formerly Queen Charlotte Islands). off the coast of British Columbia where, on August 22, 1949, Canada experienced its largest earthquake since 1700, a “great” (8.1) quake. According to the Canadian government, it occurred on the Queen Charlotte Fault (Canada’s equivalent of the San Andreas Fault) – the boundary between the Pacific and North American plates that run underwater along the west coast of British Columbia.

The shaking was so severe on the Haida Gwai that cows were knocked off their feet, and a geologist with the Geological Survey of Canada working on the north end of Graham Island could not stand up. Chimneys toppled, and an oil tank at Cumshewa Inlet collapsed. In Terrace, on the adjacent mainland, cars were bounced around, and standing on the street was described as ‘like being on the heaving deck of a ship at sea. In Prince Rupert, windows were shattered and buildings swayed.”

And, if you want to read about a couple of “great” (8.0+) quakes which are prophesied in Scripture, read Revelation 11:13 and 16:17-21.

Yes, dearly beloved, Jesus is coming! The “signs” of His return, recorded in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21, are happening exactly the way He said they would. So, “be on the alert” (Mark 13:33, 35, 37) and keep watching, waiting, working, witnessing for, walking with and worshiping Jesus until He comes. And, if you are not a believer in Jesus, please read the above three chapters and watch the news. And, if you do, you will see that things in the world are happening exactly like Jesus said they would. This headline, from The Christian Post, really got my attention this morning: “Revelation 15: The inexorable culmination of divine retribution approaches!”

In the article, Mark Creech wrote: “Throughout various wars and conflicts, military figures have indicated that victory or a resolution is close at hand. When working on finding a solution to some long-standing problem, scientists and researchers have announced that they are near making some groundbreaking discoveries. When progress is being made toward achieving a specific social or political objective, activists will state that the end is in sight.

In Revelation chapter 15, the apostle John declares that he sees the finish line. Seven angels are mentioned here as part of a series of coming events known as the ‘seven bowls of wrath,’ or the ‘seven last plagues.’ These plagues represent the final stage of God’s judgment poured out upon an unbelieving and disobedient world. The previous chapters of the book of Revelation have described a variety of catastrophic events, but the seven last plagues are presented as the culmination of God’s mighty hand of anger and fury. It’s hard to comprehend God as angry. It is true that God is loving, just, and extends His offer of grace, mercy, forgiveness and salvation, but, in numerous places in the Bible, God is depicted as incensed and outraged at humanity’s rebellion against His rightful and benevolent sovereignty. The apostle Paul, in Romans 1:18, wrote: ‘the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people who suppress the truth.'”

Jonathan Edwards who wrote, what has been considered by some theologians, as the “greatest sermon of all time, “Sinners in the Hands of An Angry God,” wrote, ‘The wrath of God is like great waters that are damned for the present; they increase more and more, and rise higher and higher, till an outlet is given, and the longer the stream is stopped, the more rapid and mighty is its course when once it it let loose.”

Yes, God’s judgments are coming upon the earth. And, if you dare, you can read about them in Revelation 6-20. Personally, I believe (and I could be wrong) God’s judgments are coming sooner than later, based on the “signs” Jesus gave us in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21. So, let me ask you: “Have you agreed with God you are a sinner who needs a Savior Who is Jesus (Romans 3:23, 24) and believed He died on a cross for your sins, was buried and raised from the dead (I Corinthians 15:1-4) to forgive all your sins and give you eternal life (John 3:16)? This recent headline, from Prophecy News Watch, got my attention this morning: “Food Prices Are Crazy High Now, But They Will Soon Go a Lot Higher!”

In the article, Michael Snyder reported: “Over the past few years, we have seen food prices in the United States and other wealthy countries do things that have never been done before. Unfortunately, this is just the beginning. Global food supplies are getting tighter, and meanwhile global demand for food just continues to increase. For decades, many among the elite were optimistic that someday we would be able to eliminate global hunger completely because tremendous progress was being made. But then right around 2015 things started, to reverse, and now the trend is very much going in the wrong direction.

According to the United Nations, 2.4 billion people did not have enough food to eat last year, and 900 million of them were facing severe food insecurity. Those numbers will almost certainly go even higher this year, because it is getting more difficult for poor countries to get the food that they need to feed their populations.”

And Jesus said, in Matthew 24:7, “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.”

Yes, dearly beloved in Christ, another “sign” that Jesus is coming, perhaps sooner than later. So, as I have said before, we might want to stock up on certain items of food not only for our families, but also for our neighbors as part of our witness should things continue to deteriorate as the prophetic Scriptures remind us they will before Jesus returns.

This recent (8/8/23) headline, from the Temple Institute, really got me excited this morning: “The Levitical Choir Continues to Rehearse!”

In the article, I read: “The Levitical Choir established by the Temple Institute this past year continues to rehearse the singing of the Hallel prayer, which consists of Psalms 113-118. Every member of the choir is a Levite, a descendant of Levi, the third son of our patriarch Yaakov. Among their other responsibilities, the Levites are required to accompany the performance of the offerings by the kohanim with the singing of Psalms. An offering made without Levitical accompaniment would not be considered kosher (acceptable). God willing, the Temple Institute’s Levitical Choir will perform publicly for the first time in the upcoming Sukkot holiday.”

All I can say is “how exciting and, maybe, even prophetical,” as we know, from the Hebrew Scriptures (Ezekiel 40-48) that, one day, the Jewish temple will be rebuilt, the temple sacrifices will be reinstituted and, perhaps, those of us who also believe in and follow the Messiah, will hear this choir sing Psalms 113-118!

Yes, these are exciting times for us, as believers in Jesus, as we are seeing Bible prophecy fulfilled in our lifetime. So, let us continue to watch, wait, work, witness for, walk with and worship Jesus until He comes. This headline, from yesterday’s SPACE.com, really caught my eye: “Powerful sun storm knocks out radio transmissions!”

In the article, I read: “A powerful solar flare disrupted radio and navigation signals across North America on August 7 and prompted space weather forecasters to issue warnings because of energetic particles hitting earth. It was the second X-flare in less than three days – we should brace for more such activity.

And Jesus said, in Luke 21:25, that, before His return, “There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. But when these things (all the things Jesus mentioned in Luke 21:8-24) begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” And remember, Jesus likened these “signs” to “birth pains” in Matthew 24:8 which means that, as we get closer to the Lord’s return, the “signs/birth pains” will increase in frequency and intensity. Stay tuned and watch for more news from the sun, the moon and the stars.

Yes, these are exciting and scary times in which we live. And yet, as believers in Jesus, we are not to panic or be afraid. Rather, we are to be about the Lord’s work, making disciples and baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I (Jesus) commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19, 20).”

And, if you are still not a believer in Jesus, there’s still time to become one, simply by agreeing with God you are a sinner who needs a Savior Who is Jesus (Romans 3:23, 24) and believing He died on a cross for your sins, was buried and raised from the dead (I Corinthians 15:1-4) to forgive all your sins and give you eternal life (John 3:16). As I have said numerous times before, “You just never know where the earthquakes are going to be.” Case in point, over the last 24 hours, there was a “very minor” (3.9) and a “minor” (2.8) quake near Snoqualmie, Washington (population: 10,670, as of 2010) and a “very minor” (2.5) quake south of Livermore, Maine (population: 200, as of 2010).

Whether you realize it or not, these are “little reminders” which, as time goes on, will be “big reminders” that Jesus is coming! And, if you don’t believe me, check out Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 to see what Jesus Himself said would be the “signs” leading up to His return.

So, if you are not a believer in Jesus, why not become one today and seal your eternity in heaven by agreeing with God you are a sinner who needs a Savior Who is Jesus (Romans 3:23, 24) and believe He died on a cross for your sins, was buried and raised from the dead (I Corinthians 15:1-4) to forgive all your sins and give you eternal life (John 3:16). These recent headlines really got my attention this morning:

#1. China, Russia send naval warships near Alaska, triggering forceful US response (FOX NEWS.com)

#2. In nightmare scenario, IDF tries to predict what flare-up with Hezbollah could look like (ISRAEL HAYOM)

In the first article, Thomas Catenacci reported: “China and Russia conducted a joint naval operation near U.S. territory earlier this week, triggering a large response from the U.S. Navy. The joint operation, conducted by two significant adversaries, consisted of 11 ships and neared Alaska’s southwestern coast, according to Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, who was briefed on the matter earlier this week by U.S. defense officials. Sullivan said the U.S. Navy ultimately mobilized four destroyers to guide the Chinese and Russian ships away from American waters.”

And, in the second article, Lilach Shoval wrote: “As part of contingency, military prepares for a reality in which thousands of rockets get launched into Israeli territory daily, with Israel’s economy all but paralyzed.

The likelihood of another Israel-Lebanon war is as high as ever, given the increased number of incidents on the northern border in recent months, not to mention the continued internal crisis in Israel over judicial reform. Only this time, officials estimate that the conflict will not be limited to one arena alone, with the possibility of flare-ups in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as more distant threats posed by Iran and its proxies in the region.”

Sounds to me a lot like what is not only prophesied in Psalm 83, but also in Ezekiel 38-39 and Revelation 16:12-16. Remember Jesus said, in Matthew 24:6, “You will be hearing of wars and rumors of war.” Right now, many of the “rumors” are just rumors. But, they could very easily turn into “wars,” just like Russia and Ukraine. So, dearly beloved in Christ, please stay tuned and keep watching, waiting, working, witnessing for, walking with and worshiping Jesus until He comes. And, if you are still not a believer in Jesus, c’mon now, swallow your pride and become one today by agreeing with God you are a sinner who needs a Savior Who is Jesus (Romans 3:23, 24) and believe He died on a cross for your sins, was buried and raised from the dead (I Corinthians 15:1-4) to forgive all your sins and give you eternal life (John 3:16).
