This recent headline, from SciTech Daily, caught my attention: “Baffling Scientists: Why Did Millions of People Feel Shaking in New Your City?”

The Seismological Society of America commented on October 20, 2024: “The 4.8 magnitude Tewksbury earthquake caused strong shaking in New York, despite minimal, local, but widespread impact was due to its rupture direction, offering insights into seismic hazards in the region. The Tewksbury earthquake’s minimal, local damage, but widespread impact was due to its rupture direction, funneling shaking from New Jersey towards New York City, with the anomaly highlighted in studies on seismic energy distribution. The magnitude (4.8) quake startled millions across the U.S. East Coast, making it the strongest recorded tremor in New Jersey since 1900. Remember, Jesus told His disciples in Mark 13:33, 35, 37) to “stay on the alert” which we, as Christians, can do can do can by watching, waiting, working, witnessing for, walking with and worshiping Jesus until He comes. Good morning, blog readers, from rainy and warm (64 degrees) Wisconsin where, interestingly enough, over the last 24 hours, there have been: 9 “minor” (2.5-4.1) earthquakes in 6 different states: Alaska (3), California (1), Hawaii (2), New Mexico (1), Oklahoma (1) and Washington (1). Coincidence or prophecy? Stay tuned! And, please pray for me as, Lord willing, I will be having a “root canal” this morning which, according to my previous health history, may lead to side effects. Good morning, blog readers, from sunny and cool (57 degrees) Wisconsin where, over the last 24 hours, according to the USGS, there have been: three “strong” (6.3, 6.1, 6.0 and 10 “moderate” (5.0-5.9) quakes in Indonesia, Guam, Guatemala, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Timor Leste, Samoa, Turkey and 9 “moderate” (5.0, 5.4, 5.5 and 5.6, quakes in Tonga.

Good morning, blog readers, from mild (63 degrees), humid, and sunny Wisconsin where, according to the USGS, there has been a “big spike in New Jersey earthquakes which could mean more tremors will hit this year, expert predicts.”

Len Melisurgo wrote: “New Jersey residents who were rattled by the recent spree of earthquakes in Bergen and Morris Counties may have to get accustomed to the sudden shaking and loud booms, according to an earthquake expert who had predicted an uptick in seismic activity several years ago. Alexander Gates, a Geology Professor at Rutgers University’s Newark campus who studies the locations and movements of quake faults, said “the Garden State and New York metro region appear to be amid a recurring 40-year cycle of increased seismic activity” which just happens to be near where our daughter lives and has experienced an earthquake. Please keep them and the others around them safe, Lord, and, remind me that You said, in Matthew 24:7, that one of the “signs,” leading up to Your return will be “earthquakes in various places.” And so, dearly beloved, let us keep watching, waiting, working, witnessing for, walking with and worshiping Jesus until He comes. Good morning, blog readers, from rainy and warm (68 degrees) Wisconsin where today, according to the USGS, there have been 14 (“moderate to strong”) earthquakes in Bulgaria, Indonesia (2), Guam, Guatemala, , Japan (2), Papua New Guinea, Russia (3), Mexico (2) and the Philippines.

Good morning, blog readers, from cloudy and warm (73 degrees) Wisconsin where, over the last 24 hours, according to the USGS and my count, there were 14 (2.7-6.1) earthquakes in California (2), the Dominican Republic, Guam, Guatemala (2), Japan, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, New Jersey (2), Russia (3), Tonga, and Turkey. Note: Keep an eye on New Jersey where our daughter, Laura, lives and where there have been a couple of earthquakes over the last week or so.

Yes, dearly beloved, Jesus is coming! And, I know some of you will say, “Doug: You’ve been talking about Jesus’ coming for years. So, where is He?” Let me remind you that Jesus said, in Matthew 24:8, that the “signs” leading up to His return, will come like “birth pains” which makes me think we are, perhaps, in the “first trimester” of the “pains.” So, dearly beloved in Christ, keep watching, waiting, working, witnessing for, walking with and worshiping Jesus until He comes. Good morning, blog readers, from mostly sunny and warm (79 degrees) Wisconsin where, thanks to the USGS, over the last 24 hours, I recorded 28 (2.5+) earthquakes, including a “strong” (6.8) quake in Russia, a “minor” (2.6) quake near Cynthiana, Indiana and another “minor”(3.0) quake near our daughter in New Jersey! Thank You, Lord, for keeping them and us safe thus far, quoting John Newton in his hymn, “Amazing Grace, “Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me (us) home!” Lord willing, I’ll write again tomorrow or see you in heaven. Good morning, blog readers, from sunny and warm (70 degrees) Wisconsin where I am still looking for a safe place to walk. In the meantime, I will be writing primarily about the daily earthquakes from the USGS which get my attention. For instance, this morning I woke up to record 3 “strong” (6.8, 6.4, 6.2) quakes “in Mexico and a “light” (3.0) quake in Hasbrouk, New Jersey near where our daughter, Laura, lives and calls me whenever she feels the ground shake!

Jesus told His disciples, in Matthew 24:7, that the “signs” leading up to His return would be: “nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes.” He also told them, in Matthew 24:8, that the other “signs” leading up to His return “are merely the beginning of birth pangs (pains)” where the key is an increase in “frequency and intensity” which, like most pregnancies, will lead to the birth of the baby and the return of Christ. Yes, dearly beloved in Christ, these are exciting times, as we may just be the generation which sees the return of Christ. How exciting! So, if you are a believer in Jesus, keep watching, waiting, working, witnessing for and worshiping Jesus until He comes. And, if you are not a believer in Jesus, simply agree with God that you are a sinner who needs a Savior Who is Jesus (Romans 3:23, 24) and believe He died on a cross for your sins, was buried and raised from the dead (I Corinthians 15:1-4) to forgive all your sins and give you eternal life (John 3:16).
