A MAN NAMED VIRGIL!

Some thirty plus years ago, while pastoring the First Congregational Church of Hartford, Wisconsin, Senior Pastor, Stuart Briscoe, of Elmbrook Church in Waukesha, Wisconsin, introduced me to a man named “Virgil Staples” who was one of the pastors/elders at Elmbrook Church. At the time, I was a small church pastor in Hartford, Wisconsin who was looking for a mature pastor to “be a friend and disciple me” in the Christian faith. And so, as the Lord would have it, He introduced me to Virgil who not only discipled me, but also became my best friend for some 30+ years before he went to be with the Lord. And, oh how I still miss him to this day.

19 MODS & 3 STRONGS!

Good morning, blog readers, from partly sunny/cloudy and cool (59 degrees) Wisconsin where I still haven’t found a safe place to walk in the morning, but am still looking for one so that I can, once again, give you my “creature count” for the week.

Meanwhile, over the last 24 hours, according to the USGS, there was a significant amount of earthquake activity around the world with 19 “moderate (5.0-5.9)” and three “strong” (6.0+) earthquakes in places like: Indonesia (2), the Philippines, Russia, Fiji, Vanuatu, Coos Bay, Oregon, Chile, Mexico, the Kermadec Islands, Venezuela and Tonga.

So, stay tuned, dearly beloved in Christ, and keep watching for these quakes to increase in “frequency and intensity,” like “birth pains,” as Jesus said they would in Matthew 24:8. Love and prayers, Doug (10/1/25)

LAKE ROBERTS HEIGHTS!

Good morning, blog readers, from sunny and warm (60 degrees) Wisconsin where, for the first time in my study of earthquakes, I recorded a “very minor” (2.7) earthquake in Lake Roberts Heights, New Mexico! As I have said numerous times before, “you just never know when and where these quakes will occur!” After all, Jesus said, in Matthew 24:7, 8: “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom and, in various places, there will be famines and earthquakes. But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs (pains).” And so, let me also remind you that Jesus told His disciples, in Mark 13:33, 35, 37, to “stay on the alert!” Please know I love you and am praying for your salvation if you are lost and your sanctification if you are saved. In Christ, Doug (9/30/25)

COOS BAY ALERT!

Good morning, blog readers, from mostly cloudy and cool (54 degrees) Wisconsin where, over the last week, the USGS recorded 12 “moderate” (5.0-5.5) quakes, including a 5.9 quake near Coos Bay, Oregon. As I have said numerous times before, you just never know when and where these quakes will occur. So, “stay on the alert (Mark 13:33, 35)” and watch for the “signs” Jesus gave us in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 which will lead up to His return. Love in Christ, Doug (9/27/25)

10 MODS & 2 STRONGS!

Good morning, blog readers, from mostly cloudy and cool (57 degrees) Wisconsin where, according to the USGS over the last 48 hours, there have been 10 “moderate” and 2 “strong” earthquakes in Mexico, Indonesia, Venezuela, Micronesia, the the South Sandwich Islands and Papua New Guinea.

Remember, Jesus told His disciples, in Luke 21:10 that, before His return,” there will be “great (8.0+) “earthquakes, and in various places, plagues and famines, terrors and great signs from heaven.” Personally, I believe that all the believers in Jesus who have been saved by God’s grace through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8,9), will not experience these “judgments,” but will be “raptured” to heaven to be with Christ for eternity before these judgments take place on the earth. However, we should be ready for tougher times. Finally, thank you, dearly beloved in Christ, for all the birthday wishes. To God be the glory! Love in Christ, Doug (9/25/25)

SIGNS of JESUS’ RETURN!

Good morning, blog readers, from mostly clear and cool (57 degrees) Wisconsin where I am still looking for a safe place to walk to do my “creature count.” The Lord Jesus, in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21, gave us very specific “signs” which would lead up to His return, the first of which was the destruction of the Jewish temple by the Romans in 70 A.D. After that, Jesus told His disciples to “see to it that no one will mislead you,” a sad, but common sign, leading up to the Lord’s return, as we also see in Matthew 24:4, 5, 10, Mark 13:6, Luke 21:8. Then, in Luke 21:8-38, Jesus spoke of “wars and disturbances, great earthquakes, plagues, famines, terrors, signs in the sun, the moon and the stars, Jerusalem surrounded by armies” and, also sadly, apostasy in the church.” Then, Jesus will come for His bride, the church, and take her to the Father’s house in heaven (John 14:1-2). I can’t wait. But, so I must and so must you, as a believer in Jesus until He comes for us. Glory to God! Lord willing, more tomorrow. Love in Christ, Doug (9/24/25) which just happens to be my birthday!

SF QUAKE!

Good morning, blog readers, from mostly cloudy and and cool (62 degrees) Wisconsin where, according to the USGS, there was a “light” (4.6) earthquake in Berkeley, California this morning! The strong quake woke up the Bay Area, with over 21,000 people reporting having felt it within the first hour of the event. Note: UC Berkeley is the only major university in the world that has a dangerous earthquake fault running through its campus. Thankfully, there were no immediate reports of injuries or major damage.” As Jesus told His disciples, including us, in Mark 13:33, 35 and 37: “stay on the alert!” Love in Him, Doug (9/22/25) till we meet again!

MINOR to MAJOR QUAKES!

Good morning, blog readers, from foggy and cool (69 degrees) Wisconsin where I have returned to bringing you the latest and greatest earthquakes from the previous day which included a “major” (7.4) quake in Russia, a “strong” (6.0 quake) in Papua New Guinea and 7 “moderate” (5.0-5.6) quakes in the South Sandwich Islands, Indonesia, India, Colombia, the Falkland Islands and Tristan Da Conha.

Now, you may be wondering why I have been doing this for some 20+ years. Well, I’m glad you asked. It is all because of something Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 24:7, Mark 13:8 and Luke 21:11, that is, that one of the “signs” leading up to his return would be “earthquakes in various places.” And, in Matthew 24:8, Jesus also told His disciples that these “signs” would appear like “birth pains” (Matthew 24:8), increasing in “frequency and intensity,” as we get closer to His return. And, as I have said numerous times before, let us keep watching, waiting, working, witnessing for, walking with and worshiping Jesus until He comes. Love in Christ, Doug (9/18/25) Questions?

MODERATES – STRONGS!

Good morning, blog readers, from mostly cloudy and warm (62 degrees) Wisconsin where, with the help with the help of the USGS over the last 24 hours, I recorded:18 moderate (5.0-5.8):18 moderate (5.0-5.8) quakes in the Falkland Islands, Nepal, the Tristan da Cunha Region, the Pacific Antarctic Ridge, Oregon, Russia, the South Sandwich Islands and a “major” (7.4) quake in Russia! Remember: Jesus told His disciples, in Mark 13:33, 35 and 37 to “stay on the alert” and watch for the “signs” He gave us to come like “birth pains ( Matthew 24:8).” Love in Christ, Doug (9/13/25)
