Good morning, blog readers, from cloudy and cool (48 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk, for the first time in years, I heard a “screech owl!” Thank You, Jesus!
This recent (9/9/24) headline, from The Times of Israel, was sad, but not surprising: “Negotiators said to believe chance of hostage deal ‘close to zero’; US also pessimistic.”
In the article, the TOI staff reported: “Families were reportedly told deal unlikely to happen as Netanyahu, Sinwar both hardened stances; US to delay presenting new proposal, does not want to reward Hamas after executions.”
Let me remind you again, from Psalm 83 in the Bible, Asaph wrote of a future time, when Israel would say of her neighbors, “O God, do not remain quiet; do not be silent and, O God, do not be still. For behold, Your enemies make an uproar, and those who hate you have exalted themselves. They make shrewd plans against Your people (Israel), and conspire together against Your treasured ones. They have said, ‘Come, let us wipe them out as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more. Maybe you have heard this chant: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” In other words, Israel’s neighbors who are listed in Psalm 83:6-8, will attack and seek to destroy the people of Israel “that her name be remembered no more.” Can you say, “October 7th?”
The article went on to say: “The chances of a phased hostage-ceasefire agreement being achieved on the basis of Israel’s May proposal are ‘close to zero’ and there is ‘very broad pessimism’ among the Israeli negotiators, Channel 12 reported Sunday, citing unnamed sources in the Israeli security establishment.” The article continued: “The US, which had indicated it was planning to present a new bridging proposal in the next 2 or 3 days, is now regarded as unlikely to do so, it added.”
All I can say is what I know from Scripture, particularly Jeremiah 32:35-37, which basically says that, as long as there is a sun, a moon and the stars, there will be an Israel. Now, that doesn’t mean that the Lord God will bless everything Israel does. He won’t. For, as long as she continues to reject Jesus as her Messiah and Savior, Israel will continue to have hardship upon hardship. In fact, according to Zechariah 13:7-9. only one third of the Jews will enter the kingdom when King Jesus returns to set up His kingdom.
But, there’s “good news” for the Jew and Gentile alike: Jesus died on a cross for your sins, was buried and raised from the dead (I Corinthians 15:1-4) to forgive all your sins and give you eternal life (John 3:16). So, please, agree with God you are a sinner who needs a Savior Who is Jesus (Romans 3:23, 24) and believe He died on a cross for your sins, was buried and raised from the dead (I Corinthians 15:1-4) to forgive all your sins and give you eternal life. And, if you do, I’ll see you in heaven. Glory to God! Blessings and prayers with love, Doug (9/10/24)
