Good morning, blog readers, from cloudy and warm (55 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk, I saw: a bunny running across the street and heard the horn of a freight train! Thank You, Jesus, I can still see and hear!

Now, if you’re like me, you had never heard of Klamath before. It is a town in Northern California with a population of 816, as of 2023 and where, you might have guessed, there was a “very minor” (2.5) earthquake. And, speaking of “earthquakes,” over the last 24 hours, the USGS, recorded 3 “moderate” (5.0-5.1) quakes in Alaska and a 5.1 quake near Fiji. Note: We can be very thankful that, for the most part, these quakes are small compared to what is coming. And, if you don’t believe me, check out these “great (8.0+) earthquakes” which are prophesied to come in Revelation 6:12, 11:13, and 16:18.

But, there’s “good news” for the believers in Jesus. I believe (other believers do not) that we will be “raptured” or taken up to heaven by Jesus before the Lord’s judgments, including these “great earthquakes,” occur. Jesus told us to “stay on the alert” in Mark 13:33, 35, 37). And, even though we will not know the “day or the hour of His return (Mark 13:32),” I believe we will know when we are close, as the “birth pains” or “signs of His return,” (Matthew 24:8) increase in frequency and intensity, as Jesus said they would in Mark 13:32. So, let us keep watching, waiting, working, witnessing for, walking with and worshiping Jesus until He comes. See also Luke 21:28.

Good morning, blog readers, from sunny and cool (47 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk, I saw: 4 deer! Thank You, Jesus!!

The above title is a combination of two cities in Washington State where there was a “minor” (3.2) earthquake, 6 km S of Vashon, Washington (population:10,624, as of 2010) which is near Seattle (population: 737,015), as of 2010). Stay tuned to see if this is a harbinger of things to come, as a large quake in this area could be catastrophic! I don’t know about you, but I am thinking we are due for a “big earthquake” somewhere around the world, maybe even in the United States. So, stay tuned and “keep on the alert” (Mark 13:33, 35, 37) as we watch, wait, work, witness for, walk with and worship Jesus until He comes. Love in Christ, Doug (3/18/25)

Good morning, blog readers, from partly cloudy and cold (22 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk, I saw: a dog, a jogger and heard the horn of a freight train! Thank You, Jesus!

This morning, as I studied the latest earthquakes, I saw two which got my attention: a “minor” (3.9) quake, 10 km northwest of Malibu, California (population: 12,645, as of 2010) and a “moderate (5.5) quake in the Revillagigedo Island Region, not too far from Vancouver Island. Stay tuned!

Now some of you might be thinking: “Doug,, you’ve been talking about “earthquakes” and other “signs” of Jesus’ return for years and nothing big has happened. And, while that is true, Jesus told His disciples then and now, in Luke 21:10-11, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues, famines, will be terrors and great signs from heaven.”

Jesus also said, in Matthew 24:8, “But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs (pains).” So, like a pregnancy, I am thinking that the “signs” could be coming in three trimesters, growing in “frequency and intensity,” as we get closer to the Lord’s return. MAGEE!

Good morning, blog readers, from cloudy and warm (61 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk, I saw: 3 deer! Thank You, Jesus!

Many years ago, when I was attending Bangor Theological Seminary in Bangor, Maine to study for the ministry, I met a fellow student who, for some unknown reason to me, was nicknamed “Magee” which made me think of “earthquakes” since today there was a “minor” (3.0) earthquake, 9 km ENE of Magee, Mississippi (population: 4,408, as of 2010. And, as I have said numerous times before: “You just never know where these earthquakes are going to be.”

So, let me remind you that the Lord Jesus, in Matthew 24:7, Mark 13:8 and Luke 21:11, warned us that before His return, “there will be earthquakes in various places,” just one of the “signs” leading up to His return. And so, dearly beloved in Christ, “Stay on the alert (Mark 13:33, 35, 37)” and keep watching, waiting, working, witnessing for, walking with and worshiping Jesus until He comes. Good morning, blog readers, from partly cloudy and cool (42 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk, I saw: 5 deer! Thank You, Jesus! Seeing the deer reminded me of Psalm 42:1, 2 where the sons of Korah wrote: “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for for Thee, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God..”

My favorite Bible commentator, William MacDonald who I often quote, wrote on the above verses: “Our thirst is for God alone; no one else will do. And, it is for the living God – not for a dead idol. It is a desire that will only be fully satisfied by a personal appearance before the Lord and the privilege of gazing on His face.” The apostle Paul would later write, in I Corinthians 16:22-24: “If anyone one does not love the Lord, let him be accursed. Maranatha. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen!”

Just think of it, dear brothers and sisters in Christ, one day, perhaps soon, the Lord Jesus will come for those who have believed in Him, that He died on a cross for our sins, was buried and raised from the dead (I Corinthians 15:1-4) to forgive all our sins, give us eternal life (John 3:16.) and take us to our heavenly home for eternity where all will be well. I can’t wait! But, wait I must and so must you if you are a believer in Jesus, So, keep watching, waiting, working, witnessing for, walking with and worshiping Jesus until He comes. Good morning, blog readers, from clear and cool (41 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk, I saw: a racoon and a “waxing gibbous moon” which, I just learned, is between a half moon and a full moon. Waxing means it is getting bigger!” And, in case you didn’t know (I didn’t), there are eight phases of the moon: New, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full, Waning GIbbous, Third Quarter and Waning Crescent.. Remember, Jesus told His disciples, in Luke 21:25, 26, “There will be signs in the sun, the moon and the stars and, on the earth, dismay among nations. in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man (Jesus) coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” Now, read verse 28: “But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” Glory to God! Good morning, blog readers, from clear and cool (32 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk, I saw: a deer and a beautiful ring around the moon! Thank You, Jesus! And, speaking of the “moon,” did you know that Jesus told His disciples, in Luke 21:25-27 that one of the “signs” leading up to His return will be “signs in the sun and moon and the stars, and upon the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” Dr. Luke then added, in verse 28, “But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” In other words, when all the “signs” Jesus gave us in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 “begin to take place,” we know that Jesus’ coming is near. This is exciting news if you are a believer in Jesus, but scary if you are not. But, there’s good news: You still have time to become a believer in Jesus. Simply agree with God you are a sinner who needs a Savior Who is Jesus (Romans 3:23, 24) and believe He died on a cross for your sins, was buried and raised from the dead (I Corinthians 15:1-4) to forgive all your sins and give you eternal life (John 3:16). Good morning, blog readers, from clear and cool (29 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk, I saw: 5 deer and a plane! Thank You, Jesus!

I don’t know about you, but I enjoy teaching the Bible and have been doing just that for the churches I have served for about 40 years. Right now, I am teaching the gospel of John in one of the studies and Luke in the other. Did you know that the gospel writer Luke was a doctor? This we know, from Colossians 4:14, where Paul wrote: “Luke, the beloved physician, sends you his greetings, and also Demas.” I also had the privilege of teaching long-term ventilator patients at the local hospital where one of the aides became a believer in Jesus and led her whole family to the Lord.

So, I would encourage you to read the Bible like a Berean (Acts 17:10-12) and don’t just trust your spiritual leader to be telling the truth. For example, when I went to seminary, I was taught how to “rip the Bible apart” by my professors. Thankfully, the Lord protected me and brought me a man by the name of Ray Held who taught me the truth of God’s Word, for which, I was most thankful.
