Good morning, blog readers, from cloudy and cool (30 degrees) Wisconsin where, on my morning walk, I saw: 45 robins, 16 grackles, 5 geese, 5 red-winged blackbirds, 5 seagulls, 2 doves and a bunny!
This morning, on NBC, I watched an interview with General McCaffrey who seemed to indicate that the Ukrainian army, with help from the U.S. and NATO, was winning the war and Vladimir Putin would be defeated. All I can say to that is: “Not yet, according to what the Bible says.”
Let me take you to Ezekiel 38:1-8 where the prophet wrote: “And the word of the Lord came to me saying, ‘Son of Man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh (Russia), Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God, ‘Behold, I am against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal. And I will turn you about, and put hooks in your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield and all of them wielding swords; Persia (Iran), Ethiopia, and Put (Libya) with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer (Germany) with all its troops; Beth-togarmah (Turkey) from the remote parts of the north with all its troops – many peoples with you. Be prepared, and prepare yourself, you and all your companies that are assembled about you, in the latter years you will come into the land (Israel) that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel which had been a continual waste; but its people were brought out from the nations, and they are living securely, all of them.”
In summary, at some time in the future (perhaps even in our lifetime), Gog, the leader of Russia will be led by the Lord God Himself, along with a host of other nations (verse 9), to invade Israel which has recovered from war (perhaps Psalm 83) “to capture spoil and to seize plunder (verses 12 and 13).” For the rest of the story, I suggest you read Ezekiel 38:18-39:29.
So, what now? If you are a believer in Jesus, keep watching (for the signs He gave us in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21), waiting, working, witnessing for and walking with Jesus until He comes. And, if you are not a believer, please agree with God you are a sinner who needs a Savior Who is Jesus (Romans 3:23, 24) Who died on a cross for your sins, was buried and raised from the dead to forgive all your sins and give you eternal life (I Corinthians 15:1-4; John 3:16). Blessings, Doug (4/16/22)
